Let’s start with we have been doing this job for a very long time and every time we want to start some works with a new client we ask for there brand assets…that is if we are not building the brand from scratch ourselves. These two points are absolutely critical.
1). Is your logo a Vector based files. This means that the logo can be used as small as a mouse or as big as a billboard or bus with zero loss of quality. Vector files are made of using maths, not pixels. The files we commonly see here are AI, EPS, PDF. Also, note that you can save pixel based logo as AI file doest make it turn vector.
2). Can your logo can be reversed, this means it can be used on a light background and also reversed and used on a dark background. Generally, as a guide, we would use the revered logo 50% of the time! So it’s really important that you get this included in your brand rulebook.
3). Do you know your colours? RGB for screen CMYK for print. You should be able to tell suppliers your colours if you cant id gets this information to help keep your brand consisted across all your artworks.
